Donald G. Sefried, age 93, of Chillicothe passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at The Arc in Chillicothe.

Don was born on October 26, 1930, in Chillicothe, IL, to Clarence William and Margaret Loise (Reed) Sefried. He married Marjorie Ann Meinen on May 7, 1971.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; his children, Richard (Julie) Sefried of Galesburg, IL, and Ronald (Pat) Sefried of Pekin, IL; his step-daughter, Julie (Lenore) Childs of Andover, MN; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-son, Gary Childs; brother, Clarence “Joe” Sefried Jr; and his sisters, Mary Foster and Shirley Owens.

Don worked for Irions Quality Concrete Company for 33 years when he retired. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, the Illinois Valley 2 Cylinder Club, the Central Illinois Farm Heritage Club, Gathering of the Green and the Peoria Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed farming, restoring antique tractors and driving them in parades with Marjorie, especially his John Deere tractors!

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, all at the funeral home. The Rev. John Hopwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein. Memorials in Don’s name may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, the Blue Ridge Cemetery Association or the Bradley University John I.
